Welcome to Michigan Women's Golf Association
The Michigan Women’s Golf Association (MWGA) was established in 1986 and promotes and encourages participation by all levels of amateur female golfers in Michigan. We are a community for women whose focus is to educate, mentor and develop amateur female golfers of all ages, including juniors (see Girls Golf Program). In addition to providing educational and development opportunities, our members also establish long lasting friendships and comradery with others who share the same passion for the game.
The MWGA has partnered with women’s golf associations across the state, region and country, including the LPGA, USGA, and GAM, to bring more quality competitions to amateur women golfers. These relationships are what help MWGA provide opportunities for its members to compete in a variety of different types of competitions.
In Memoriam Patricia Meyers July 3, 1944 - June 26, 2026
We are sad to announce that Pat Meyers passed away on June 26, 2026. Many of you knew Pat directly, and her connection to golf in Michigan ran deep. She was a Founding Member of the Michigan Women's Golf Association (MWGA), where she served seven years on the Board of Directors. Pat had been MWGA’s sponsor for our 20th, 30th and most recently 40th at Edgewood. Pat has also long been a supporter of the Girls Golf Program. She also ran the Spring Scramble as tournament director for five years, and managed the Pick-a-Pro Contest for 14 years. Her incredible dedication led to her induction into the MWGA Hall of Fame in 2019.
Beyond the MWGA, Pat was the past president of the Women's Suburban Golf Association and served the Women's Metropolitan Golf Association as Board Secretary and GAM Club Representative. Her support also reached the Michigan Golf Foundation, the GAM Foundation, the LPGA Foundation, and both the University of Michigan and Michigan State University women's golf teams.
Pat's enduring gift to Michigan golf was her habit of always showing up. Across multiple decades and countless organizations, she was a constant force for growing the women's game. We pause today to recognize that this rare, steadfast commitment is what creates a meaningful, lasting legacy.
