LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Program

LPGA-USGA Girls Program

MWGA is again sponsoring our Girls Golf Program and we need members to help. This is the 10th year of bringing golf to girls and boys, ages 7 to 17, who do not have access to LPGA_USGA_Girls_logo4bgolf courses where they can learn the game. Beginner instructions are provided by our LPGA teaching pro, Debbie Williams at Rouge Park Driving Range & Golf Course and by the Craig Piscopink Golf Academy for our junior league at Chandler Park Golf Course and by Terri Ryan at The Belle Isle Golf Center.

We need volunteers to work with 4-6 kids at all Rouge and Chandler Parks. These programs run from late June through mid August for a couple of hours per day on selected weekdays.

In addition to the golf instruction, and focus on the five E’s (Empower, Enrich, Engage, Exercise, Energize) we plan to take a bus trip to Ohio for the LPGA Marathon Classic, a Symetra Tour event.  The junior golfers in our program will have a chance to see professional women golfers  at work.  Then at the end of the program we will hold a 9-hole Junior/Mentor scramble with an awards ceremony.

This program depends on our members, friends and the parents to make it successful.
